I'm a junior in high school, and I also have an engineering class where we design and build things in solid works. We also got a rapid-prototyper which can print what we design out of solid plastic. My school paid for licenses, but there are torrential ways of getting solidworks. Ask a kid who's good at computers in your school, he'll get you hooked up. Solidworks is usually very expensive.
